May, 2008

It has just been announced that George Sampson, the teenage break dancer, has won Britain's got talent 2008.

He fought off tough competition from a host of variety acts to take the £100,000 prize and chance to perform in front of Prince Charles at the Royal Variety Performance 2008.

Second place went to Signature, the Michael Jackson / Asian dance duo, as featured on YouTube, Digg and Diggnation.

Third place went to Andrew Jonston the 13 year old choir boy

All their semi-final performances can been seen after the break

In a weeks time I will be sat on a plane to Canada.

I am off to take part in the Lullabot Drupal training, it is a week long course running right from installation, through to module development.

As you can see from this site I have mastered the installation side, but my module development is going very slowly, so I hope Lullabot can help.

As you may or may not know as well as this being my Blog it is also my play site so I can try out new drupal features in a real world situation.

After watching Rob Douglass's screen cast (embedded after the break) about new Drupal themes which use the Colour module I thought I would try one of them out.

This is the Pixture theme, it come in a nice girly pink as default, but the colour picker allows the user to select exactly the colour needed.

Voixio

Today via a little article in .Net magazine I came across Voixio.

It's like Skype, but runs in your web browser and as long as you watch an advert the calls are free. I managed to call my mobile, home and office all for free. They quality isn't that bad, not as good an a normal telephone but just as good as Skype, and like Skype if you have a proper headset it would work even better.

Yet again Millwood Online has moved.

This site is no longer hosted with Media Temple. I was not happy with the 3 hours of down time in the first 20 days of may. I don't really mind my blog going down for that time, but via my web development company Spun Designs I have customers who would not be happy with that downtime.

This weekend along with the usual food shop and grass mowing I have been working on many Drupal projects.

The first being a module called "Referrer" in version one it will create a block like the one to the right that says "Hosted on (gs) Gris-service by (mt)". This will then link to Media Temple with your referrer link. I will then develop it to allow the user to select their host in the configuration page, it will then show the relevant logo with referrer link.

I am currently busy writing an article for Naked Wales Magazine #2 about Drupal.

The article is trying to cover what drupal is and how it can be used. So far I am up to 425 and think I have ranted on a bit too much about how daunting Drupal first is because it is so powerful.

I have been playing Grand Theft Auto 4 since Tuesday and think its great, but one thing that is puzzling me is how much Liberty City has changed from GTA 3 to GTA4.

Attached are the maps for both games.
